Our writer Kadriye CIRITCI continues to host the shining stars of civil society. This week's guest of CIRITCI was Mustafa HURMUZLU.

Greetings; Before moving on to the interview with my guest, I would like to introduce him a little bit. Mustafa HURMUZLU, the founder of HIRMIZY GROUP, is a member of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Foundation (TUSIAV) and a member of a Turkmen family of Kirkuk origin, established HG ACADEMY started to provide services for foreign students by collaborating with Turkey's leading private and state universities, institutions and establishments.

Playing the role of Turkey's voluntary envoy abroad, HG ACADEMY brings students from abroad to Turkey and acts as a bridge between Turkey and other countries by providing the necessary facilities for these international students to learn Turkish and to be placed in various universities. Can you tell about yourself?

Mustafa HURMUZLU was born in Baghdad in 1975 as the child of a Turkmen family of Kirkuk origin. I completed my primary and secondary education in the city where I was born. I graduated from Baghdad University in 1997 as a chemical engineer. I came to Turkey in 2003 to carry out my commercial activities more actively. In 2004, I established my first international company, named HIRMIZY GROUP, in Ankara. We realize many successful projects by carrying out import and export activities within the HIRMIZY GROUP.

By establishing HG ACADEMY in 2012, we started to provide services for foreign students by cooperating with Turkey's leading private and state universities, institutions and establishments. As Turkey's voluntary envoy abroad, we bring students from abroad to Turkey and act as a bridge between the two countries by providing the necessary facilities for these international students to learn Turkish and to be placed in various universities. Since its establishment, HG ACADEMY has brought over 10,000 students from different countries to Turkey. Therefore, by providing financial gain to both state and private institutions, we are also conducive to the entry of foreign money into the Turkish market.

HG ACADEMY developed the first and only online Turkish Language Exam (TDS^®) after following the required needs analysis and R&D procedures. While it makes it possible to evaluate the four basic language skills s in the same exam session with the TDS^® system, we are proud of establishing the first online exam system in Turkey that determines the Turkish level of those who learn Turkish as a foreign language, make their course level exams, and certify their Turkish proficiency. The trademark patent of TDS^®, which was started to be developed in 2018 and put into practice in 2019, was obtained in 2020. With this system, the foreign students can take the exam on TDS® from the country where they resides, and their Turkish proficiency level is determined before they come to Turkey. On the other hand, in 2021, I established the International Academic Education and Health Foundation (ULAKEV) in order to provide better service at the international level.

I'm curious about your success story. Would you like to share it?

While I was a university student in Baghdad/Iraq, I started trading business; then established a trading company called “Silk Glitter” in 1995 and started to enter government tenders. I cooperated with Turkish companies and later settled in Turkey and founded HIRMIZY GROUP in Ankara in 2004. Since then, the Iraqi state has started to provide scholarships to graduate and doctorate students, and different authorities have requested placements of students in various universities in Turkey. In line with these potential needs and demands, we have established a wide network in cooperation with Turkey's leading private and state universities and started to provide education consultancy for foreign students, thus providing these students with Turkish education, university exam preparation, and finally enrolling them in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. The consultancy services we offer to our students who choose to receive education with the difference of HIRMIZY GROUP in order to realize their education have supported them to receive the highest quality education in line with their abilities and talents. Our institution has placed nearly 5000 students in Turkey's top quality universities so far and as a result we made a great contribution to Turkey.

With the aim for continuity and growth, we have expanded the scope of our services by collaborating with institutions that have proven themselves at the international level, and we have increased the knowledge, experience and experience of the company in various sectors.

How did you be acquainted with TUSIAV? Has the foundation factor contributed to your business life? Do you have a joint project planned together?

I met TUSIAV foundation thanks to my active working environment in the business world. TUSIAV stands behind every businessman it works with and provides them with the necessary support. The family environment created under the leadership of Mr. President Veli SARITOPRAK turns into a strong sense of belonging of each member of foundation. The foundation factor has contributed to the establishment of a reliable business organization of corporate individuals who trust each other by creating a family atmosphere and sense of belonging in my business life. There are certainly projects that we have planned together, but it would be more appropriate to explain in the coming days.

Are you open to innovations? What are the targets and projects of the sector in which you operate?

To start with your second question, we, as HIRMIZY GROUP, operate in the education sector. Education is an important milestone of the country in which it exists. More attention is needed in the area we work in. We also need to inform foreign students about the cities they will live in, apart from the universities of the country. Our goal in the sector is to contribute to the education tourism economy of our country by bringing in more students than the previous year, and to facilitate the arrival of students to our country more easily by creating innovative systems such as TDS® exam system. I can say with pleasure and pride that we succeeded in getting thousands of students to get their Turkish certificates via our online exam system: Turkish Language Exam (TDS®), which we have developed and is always open to modernization and innovation. I am always ready to talk with anyone who has a new idea.

What is your advice to young business people regarding success in business life?

My advice to the young business people is courage and hard work. It takes courage to start, they should not hesitate for projects that they believe to be high quality and innovative, they will definitely find support from different institutions or individuals. The first step is important for the next steps to be taken properly. Working brings self-confidence by making the next steps more solid.

If you turn your success in your business into reality by creating projects that benefit the country, nation and society, everyone will remember you well. These are my recommendations for courage, work and being well remembered.
